Open Archived Drawing ( Drawing Editor )

Tool summary :

Can be used to open an archived copy of a previous version of your current drawing or sheet.
The drawing that you open with Open Archived Drawing can be a base drawing since a base drawing or is a type of archived drawing . The file name of a base drawing ends in "_BASE" (example: "3_BASE").
An archive drawing may have been created for a member detail or 2D erection view or submaterial or detail sheet or gather sheets or erection sheet .

Step-by-step instructions :

Open Archived Drawing can be used to track and evaluate revision changes that have been made to your current drawing or sheet.

1 . Before using this tool:

In the Drawing Editor , File > Open the member detail or 2D erection view or submaterial or detail sheet or gather sheets or erection sheet whose archived drawing you want to view.

2 . Invoke Open Archived Drawing as follows:

Method 1 : Click the Open Archived Drawing icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' File ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose File > Open Archived Drawing .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Open Archived Drawing can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .

3 . Open Archived Drawing opens a selection dialog with a list of archived drawings that are copies of previous versions of your current drawing. Exception: If there are no archived drawings of your current drawing, Open Archived Drawing informs you of such and ends this operation.

3a : Double-click the one archived drawing that you want to view (or select it, then press " OK ").

File names: An archived file name is "a number" followed by "_rev" and a "second number" (examples: 4_rev0 , 4_rev1 ). The "second number" serves as a relative time stamp: 4_rev0 was archived first, 4_rev1 was archived second. The file name of a base drawing ends in "_BASE" (example: " 3_BASE ").

4 . The archived drawing that you selected in the previous step is now your current drawing.

You may want to choose File > Compare Drawings then, on the dialog that opens, select the drawing that was your current drawing in step 1 in order to compare the differences between the archived drawing and its most current version.

You may want to choose File > Create Base Drawing to transform the archived drawing into a base drawing. If the archived drawing is already a base drawing, you will be given the option to make an archived copy of it.

When you are done viewing the archived drawing, choose File > Open to exit the archived drawing and open a different drawing.
